Antique Trunk
by E.H. Uminn
Next up: Say hello to the trunk we dragged home last week.
It’s going to take quite a bit of work to clean it up, but I’ve been brainstorming some great ideas. It will be at the foot of our bed and complement the decor in our room.
The plan is to strip the wooden slats and sand the metal down. Next comes sanding, staining, and waxing the wood. The rest of the trunk will be painted neutral in an ivory hue. The metal hardware will be repainted metallic. Lastly, I am going to paint or cover the inside. Here are some inspiration ideas:
Since it is a sunny, warm, spring day the trunk is airing out while I finish up my plans and gather supplies. I will consider myself accomplished if I can get this piece looking shiny and pretty!

Ooooh! That will be soooo cool. I’m so glad you’re doing that to that trunk. I dreamed for years of bringing that trunk home, and I could have at any time. But, all I envisioned is it sitting in my basement as opposed to grandma’s and grandpa’s basement. I’m so glad you’re going to give it a new life. Thank you. I’ll have to tell you the story of the trunk sometime, just not know.
